KISHANGANJ: The resurgent Bihar has something more to cheer about as Kishanganj, which once put the state on country's tea map, might be on the oil map of the country soon. The Oil And Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), after doing oil exploration of the area, is likely to start drilling operation in the first week of August at Narkali under Kochadhaman block in Kishanganj, ONGC sources said.

ONGC scientists as well as engineers are expecting a huge reservoir of oil in the district. The preliminary surveys done at two sites in Kochadhaman and Bahadurganj blocks have yielded positive results, sources said, adding ONGC engineers have drawn up a road map for drilling operation in early August at Narkali. The drilling operations have been planned at two sites, but they will first take it up at Narkali. "For the drilling
purpose, Rs 200 crore has already been earmarked," ONGC sources said.

I was walking around in a Big Bazar store making shopping, when I saw
a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years
old..

TheCashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy
this doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''Uncle, are
you sure I don't have enough money?''

I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough
money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the
doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give
this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so
much . I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY.


I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my
sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this.
'My Sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to
see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with
her to give it to my sister...''

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I
told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I
come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him
where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my
picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I
wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go
to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with
sad eyes, very quietly..

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check
again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to
his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough
for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'


Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to
sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so
that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted
to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't
dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll
and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.'


I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I
started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I
remembered a local

news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a
truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The
little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical
state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the
life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to
recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news
paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as
I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where
the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make
last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a
beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and
the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling
that my life had been changed for ever...

The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is
still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a
drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

First Aid:

1. Keep the person calm, reassuring them that bites can be effectively treated in an emergency room. Restrict movement, and keep the affected area below heart level to reduce the flow of venom.

2. If you have a pump suction device (such as that made by Sawyer), follow the manufacturer's directions.

3. Remove any rings or constricting items because the affected area may swell. Create a loose splint to help restrict movement of the area.

4. If the area of the bite begins to swell and change color, the snake was probably poisonous.

5. Monitor the person's vital signs -- temperature, pulse, rate of breathing, and blood pressure -- if possible. If there are signs of shock (such as paleness), lay the person flat, raise the feet about a foot, and cover the person with a blanket.

6. Get medical help right away.

7. Bring in the dead snake only if this can be done safely. Do not waste time hunting for the snake, and do not risk another bite if it is not easy to kill the snake. Be careful of the head when transporting it -- a snake can actually bite for several hours after it's dead (from a reflex).

DO NOT:

Do NOT allow the person to become over-exerted. If necessary, carry the person to safety.
Do NOT apply a tourniquet.
Do NOT apply cold compresses to a snake bite.
Do NOT cut into a snake bite with a knife or razor.
Do NOT try to suck out the venom by mouth.
Do NOT give the person stimulants or pain medications unless a doctor tells you to do so.
Do NOT give the person anything by mouth.
Do NOT raise the site of the bite above the level of the person's heart.

Papaya leaves can cure dengue~

Papaya leaves juice are a possible cure for dengue fever, a recent study revealed.

It has been reported that many people consume papaya leaves or pegaga juice to increase their platelet count after they contract dengue fever.

A recent study, conducted by a group of researchers from local and foreign universities, indicated that the powder from papaya leaves has substances responsible for the release and/or production of thrombocytes (platelets).

The study was initiated and led by Dr S. Kathiresan of AIMST University. Dr Kathiresan said the leaves of papaya fruit were high in complex vitamins that might help bone marrow to rapidly increase blood platelet production.

“The dengue virus’ main effect is on platelet production. Nor­mally, a platelet in our body lasts for about five to 10 days and the body replenishes them when required,”

“This virus destroys the body’s capacity to produce new platelets (during the period the virus is effective). The platelet count for a normal person varies from 150,000 to 250,000 per micro litre of blood. On becoming infected, a patient’s platelet count starts falling.

“A platelet count below 100,000 per microlitre is alarming – immediate medical attention is required. A platelet count below 50,000 can be fatal,” he added.

A fall in the platelet count prevents formation of clots and this leads to haemorrhaging, which results in both internal and external bleeding.

How should Take~

Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf.. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like that.

ഡെങ്കിപ്പനി: ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍, ചികിത്സ

മാരകമാകാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുളള പകര്‍ച്ചപ്പനിയാണ് ഡെങ്കിപ്പനി. ഫ്ളേവി വൈറസാണ് രോഗകാരി. ഉഷ്ണ മേഖലാ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും സമശീതോഷ്ണ മേഖലകളിലുമാണ് ഇവയെ സാധാരണ കണ്ടുവരുന്നത്. ഡെങ്കി വൈറസുകള്‍ നാല് തരമുണ്ട്. ഇതില്‍ ഡെങ്കി വൈറസ് 2 ആണ് കൂടുതല്‍ അപകടകാരി.
ആദ്യ ആക്രമണത്തില്‍ തന്നെ ശരീരം പ്രതിരോധശേഷി നേടുന്നതിനാല്‍ വൈറല്‍ പനികള്‍ രണ്ടാമത് ഉണ്ടാകാറില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ ഡെങ്കി വൈറസുകള്‍ നാല് തരമുളളതിനാല്‍ നാല് തവണ വരെ  ഡെങ്കിപ്പനി ഉണ്ടാവാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്.

സാധാരണ ഡങ്കിപ്പനി മാരകമല്ല. എന്നാല്‍ രോഗം കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ വൈകുന്നതും തെറ്റായ രോഗനിര്‍ണ്ണയം മൂലമുളള ചികിത്സയും രോഗത്തെ സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണമാക്കുന്നു. കൂടാതെ ഒന്നിലേറെ തവണ രോഗം ബാധിക്കുമ്പോഴും രോഗം മാരകമാകുന്നു. രോഗബാധിതരായ 5 ശതമാനത്തോളം പേര്‍ മരണമടയുന്നുണ്ട്. പ്രധാനമായും കുട്ടികളിലും പ്രായമായവരിലും പ്രതിരോധശേഷി കുറഞ്ഞവരിലുമാണ് രോഗം ഗുരുതരമാകുന്നത്.

പകരുന്ന വിധം
ഡെങ്കിവൈറസ് ഒരാളില്‍ നിന്ന് മറ്റൊരാളിലേക്ക് നേരിട്ട് പകരില്ല. ഈഡിസ് വിഭാഗത്തില്‍പെടുന്ന പെണ്‍കൊതുകുകളാണ് രോഗം പരത്തുന്നത്. പകല്‍ സമയത്ത് കടിക്കുന്ന കൊതുകുകളാണ് ഇവ. മഴക്കാലത്താണ് ഇവയെ കൂടുതലായി കണ്ട് വരുന്നത്. കറുപ്പുനിറത്തിലുളള ശരീരത്തില്‍ വെളള നിറത്തിലുളള വരകളും തലയിലും ഉരസ്സിലും കാണുന്ന വെളുത്ത കുത്തുകളും ഇവയുടെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്.  ഈഡിസ് വിഭാഗത്തിലെ ഈജിപ്റ്റി, ആല്‍ബോപിക്റ്റസ്, സ്ക്കൂറ്റില്ലാറിസ്, പോളിനെന്‍സിസ് എന്നീ സ്പീഷിസുകളെല്ലാം രോഗം പരത്തുന്നതായി കണ്ട് വരുന്നു. രോഗബാധിതരെ കുത്തുമ്പോള്‍ വൈറസ് കൊതുകുകളിലെത്തുന്നു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് 8 മുതല്‍ 11 വരെയുളള ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ പെരുകുന്ന വൈറസുകള്‍ കൊതുകിന്റെ ഉമിനീര്‍ ഗ്രന്ഥിയില്‍ തങ്ങി നില്‍ക്കും. കൊതുക് മറ്റൊരാളെ കടിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ വൈറസ് അയാളിലെത്തും. ഇങ്ങനെ രോഗാണുവാഹകരായ കൊതുകുകള്‍ ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവനും രോഗം പരത്തും. 65 ദിവസമാണ് കൊതുകിന്റെ ആയുസ്.

മനുഷ്യ ശരീരത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്ന വൈറസുകള്‍  ഗ്രന്ഥികളില്‍ എത്തുകയും അവിടെ നിന്ന് റെറ്റിക്കുലോ എന്‍ഡോത്തീലിയല്‍ സിസ്റ്റത്തിലേക്ക് വ്യാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അവിടെ വളര്‍ന്ന് പെരുകുന്ന വൈറസുകള്‍ പിന്നീട് രക്തത്തിലേക്ക് വ്യാപിക്കുന്നു.

ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍
വൈറസ് ശരീരത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ച് 3 മുതല്‍ 14 ദിവസം കഴിയുമ്പോള്‍ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ട് തുടങ്ങും. തുടക്കത്തില്‍ വളരെ പെട്ടെന്നുളള കടുത്തപനി, കഠിനമായ തലവേദന, ശരീര വേദന, കണ്ണിന്റെ പിന്‍ഭാഗത്ത് വേദന, സന്ധികളിലും പേശികളിലും കടുത്ത വേദന, മനം പിരട്ടല്‍, ഛര്‍ദ്ദില്‍, ക്ഷീണം, തൊണ്ടവേദന, ചെറിയചുമ തുടങ്ങിയ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ കാണിക്കും. വയറുവേദന, മലബന്ധം, വിഷാദം, ഉറക്കമില്ലായ്മ എന്നിവയും ലക്ഷണങ്ങളാണ്. ഇതിന് പുറമെ നട്ടെലിന്റെ ഭാഗത്ത് ശക്തമായ വേദന അനുഭവപെടാറുണ്ട്. അത്കൊണ്ട് ബ്രേക്ക്ബോണ്‍ഫീവര്‍ എന്ന പേരിലും ഡങ്കിപ്പനി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.  രോഗത്തിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തില്‍ മുഖം, കഴുത്ത്, നെഞ്ച് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന സൂചിക്കുത്ത് പോലെയുളള തടിപ്പുകള്‍ പിന്നീട് ഉടലിലേക്കും കൈകാലുകളിലേക്കും വ്യാപിക്കുന്നു. രോഗം മൂര്‍ഛിക്കുന്നതോടെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ മാറിമാറി വരും. രോഗം തീവ്രമാകുമ്പോള്‍ തൊലിപ്പുറത്തെ ചുവന്ന തടിപ്പുകളില്‍ നിന്നും മൂക്കില്‍ നിന്നും രക്തസ്രാവമുണ്ടാകാം. കറുത്ത മലവും മറ്റൊരു ലക്ഷണമാണ്. ആന്തരിക രക്തസ്രാവം രോഗത്തിന്റെ സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണാവസ്ഥയാണ്.

സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണതകള്‍
രോഗത്തിന്റെ കാഠിന്യത്തില്‍ രക്തത്തിലെ പ്ലേറ്റ്‌ലെറ്റ്കളുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ കുറവ് വരും. ഇത് മൂലം മൂക്ക്, മോണ, മലദ്വാരം തുടങ്ങിയവയില്‍ നിന്നും രക്തസ്രാവമുണ്ടാകും. ത്വക്കിനിടയിലും കണ്ണിനുളളിലും രക്തം കിനിഞ്ഞ് കട്ടപിടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണമായ ഈ അവസ്ഥയെ ഡെങ്കി ഹെമറാജിക് ഫീവര്‍ എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു. അമിതമായ രക്തസ്രാവം മൂലം  രക്തസമ്മര്‍ദ്ദം വളരെയധികം കുറയുന്ന അവസ്ഥയാണ് ഡെങ്കി ഷോക്ക് സിന്‍ഡ്രോം. ഈ രണ്ട് അവസ്ഥകളും മരണത്തിന് വരെ കാരണമാകും. ശരീരത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിരോധ വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ അമിത പ്രതികരണമാണ് രക്തസ്രാവത്തിനിടയാക്കുന്നത്. ദുര്‍ബലമായ പ്രതിരോധശേഷിയുളളവരിലും ഒന്നിലേറെ തവണ രോഗം ബാധിക്കുന്നവരിലുമാണ് ഡെങ്കിപ്പനി സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണമാകുന്നത്. 12 വയസ്സിന് താഴെയുളളവരില്‍ രക്തസ്രാവത്തിന് സാധ്യത കൂടും.

രോഗനിര്‍ണ്ണയം
ഡെങ്കിപ്പനിയുടെ പല ലക്ഷണങ്ങളും മറ്റ് വൈറല്‍ പനികളുടെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സമാനമാണ്. ഇത് രോഗനിര്‍ണ്ണയത്തെ പ്രയാസമാക്കുന്നു. സംശയം തോന്നിയാല്‍, രക്തപരിശോധനയാണ് രോഗം സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കാനുളള മാര്‍ഗ്ഗം. ആന്റിബോഡി പരിശോധനയില്‍ ഐ.ജി.എം – എലിസ അനുപാതത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് അണുബാധയുടെ നില മനസ്സിലാക്കാം. ആദ്യ ദിവസവും പിന്നീട് 10, 24 ദിവസങ്ങളിലും പരിശോധന നടത്തണം. ഐ.ജി.എം – എലിസ അനുപാതം കൂടുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ ഡെങ്കിപ്പനിയാണെന്ന് ഉറപ്പിക്കാം.

ചികിത്സ
ഡെങ്കിപ്പനിക്ക് പ്രത്യേകമായ ചികിത്സയില്ല. ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ക്കനുസരിച്ചാണ് ചികിത്സ നല്‍കുന്നത്. വിശ്രമം അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്. ധാരാളം വെളളവും പഴച്ചാറുകളും കുടിക്കുന്നത് നല്ലതാണ്. പനി കുറയാന്‍ പാരസിറ്റാമോള്‍ നല്‍കാം. എന്നാല്‍ അമിതമാകാന്‍ പാടില്ല. ഇളം ചൂട് വെളളത്തില്‍ തുണി മുക്കി ദേഹം മുഴുവന്‍ തുടക്കുന്നത് പനി കുറയാന്‍ സഹായിക്കും. രക്തസമ്മര്‍ദ്ദം 120/80 ല്‍ കുറയരുത്. പ്ളേറ്റ് ലെറ്റുകളുടെ എണ്ണം 20000 ല്‍ താഴെയാവരുത്. രക്തത്തിലെ പായ്ക്ക്ഡ് സെല്‍ വോള്യം, ഹീമോഗ്ളോബിന്‍ എന്നിവ ദിവസേന പരിശോധിക്കണം. ആന്റിബയോട്ടിക് മരുന്നുകള്‍ക്ക് ചികിത്സയില്‍ വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യമില്ല. ആസ്പിരിന്‍ കഴിക്കരുത്. ആസ്പിരിന്‍ രക്തസ്രാവം സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണമാക്കും. നല്ല പരിചരണമുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ 30 ദിവസത്തിനകം രോഗം ഭേദമാകും.

പ്രതിരോധ മാര്‍ഗ്ഗങ്ങള്‍
ഡെങ്കിപ്പനിക്കെതിരെ വാക്സിനുകള്‍ നിലവിലില്ല. ഏക പ്രതിരോധ മാര്‍ഗ്ഗം പനി പകരാതെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക എന്നതാണ്. അതായത്, രോഗാണുവാഹകരായ കൊതുകുകളുടെ കുത്തേല്‍ക്കാതിരിക്കുക. അതിനായി കൊതുകുകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുകയും കൊതുകുകള്‍ വളരാന്‍ ഇടയുളള സാഹചര്യം ഇല്ലാതാക്കുകയും വേണം. പനി പടര്‍ത്തുന്ന ഈഡിസ് കൊതുകുകള്‍ 100 മീറ്ററിലധികം സഞ്ചരിക്കാറില്ല. അത്കൊണ്ട്, വീടിന് സമീപം വെള്ളം കെട്ടിനില്‍ക്കാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുളള ചിരട്ട, പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക്‌ മാലിന്യങ്ങള്‍, പഴയ ടിന്നുകള്‍, ഷൂസുകള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവ നശിപ്പിച്ചാല്‍ ഒരു പരിധി വരെ രോഗത്തെ തടയാം. രോഗം പടരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് പുറത്തിറങ്ങുമ്പോള്‍ കൈകാലുകളടക്കം മറയുന്ന വിധം വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നത് കൊതുക്കടിയില്‍ നിന്ന് രക്ഷനല്‍കും. ഉയര്‍ന്ന ജനസാന്ദ്രതയുളള പ്രദേശങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് മാറിനില്‍ക്കുന്നതും നല്ലതാണ്. ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടാല്‍ സ്വയം ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നതിന് പകരം ഡോക്ടറെ സമീപിക്കണം.

How to prevent dengue

The alarming rise in cases of dengue across cities in the country has become an increasing cause of worry. It now more important than ever to be aware of the risk factors, and protect yourself. Prevention in this case, is truly better than cure.


What is dengue?

Dengue is a disease caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes. Dengue cannot be spread directly from person to person, i.e., is not contagious. A person can only become infected by the bite of a mosquito that is infected with the dengue virus. It is important to note that these mosquitoes bite during the daytime as well as nighttime.

Symptoms

Dengue usually begins with chills, headache, pain while moving the eyes, and backache. Persistent high fever is characteristic of dengue. Other symptoms to watch out for are exhaustion, backache, joint pains, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure and rash.

Treatment

Because dengue is caused by a virus, there is no specific treatment for it; treatment of dengue is typically concerned only with the relief of symptoms. People who show the symptoms mentioned above should immediately consult a physician. It is important to drink plenty of fluids, stay hydrated, and get as much rest as possible.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF)

DHF is a more severe form of dengue and can be fatal if untreated. It tends to affect children under the age of ten, and causes abdominal pain, hemorrhage (bleeding), and circulatory collapse (shock).

Prevention

There is no vaccine to prevent dengue. Prevention of dengue requires eradication of the mosquitoes that carry this virus. This means high standards of hygiene and sanitation. Avoid areas littered with garbage. All containers of stationary water (like drums or buckets) should be covered or discarded, including flower vases and pets' feeding bowls. If your area is infested with mosquitoes, wear long sleeves, use mosquito repellants and fumigate if necessary
